The last Saturday took place the 6º day of “Arona por un Litoral Sostenible”. The event was on the beach of “La Ballena” in Coast del Silencio. This day welcomed a strong participation: more than 200 persons distributed in various activities. The try dives had a great success, 70 people could try the experience to breathe underwater, being supervised by the instructors of Coral Sub, Cabocanarias and Argonautas.

A natural aquarium was the centre of attraction at the workshop “the sea of the senses”. People of all the ages could observe different species from the marine realm: sea stars, sea hare, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, sponges… The fauna that offered us the opportunity to discover this realm on small-scale had to return to the water.
What come from the sea have to return to the sea. As the four rescued sea turtles that a crowd had seen returning to their home. Two of them returned without a fin, and remember us that the ocean is not to be used as a bin to leave our wastes. From the sea bed: leads, scrap irons, hooks, tins and plastics items, among others, removed by 10 divers. This image speaks again by itself to teach us the necessity to go on with awareness and conservation works.

Perhaps the highlight of this day, (I can say that it has been one of the best), was receiving the members of the “ONCE”, which could feel the sea in all its facets:

- the try dive to cool and to dive for the first time during a warm day of August,
- to fill in their hands with a sea of sensations, perceiving all the species of this humble marine container,
- to touch and to smell the sea turtles, are great experiences.

 “We Like the Sea” for that reason the next appointment will be the 28th of September on the Beach “La Vista”. We will celebrate the International Beach Cleaning day (29th of September).
